Control cables encompass a large family of cables for measurement and modulation applications, manufactured to various British, European and international Standards.These include the widely used CY cable, SY cable, YY cable, and LiYCY & LiYY cables designed for a wide range of industrial process automation applications, including signal transmission, measurement, control and regulation. These control cables are often referred to by the application, such as machinery supply cable, motor cable and robotics cable. They are also known as multi-core cables, control flex and control flexible cables.

Standard:

IEC 60227: Applicable to PVC insulated cables with rated voltages below 0.6/1 kV, including the design and test methods for control cables.

IEC 60332: Specifies the vertical burning performance of cables in fire conditions to ensure that the fire will not intensify the spread of fire.

IEC 61034: Defines the method for determining the smoke density after cable combustion to evaluate visibility and safety in fires.

UL 1277: Applicable to flexible control cables with rated voltages below 600 V, covering construction, materials and performance requirements.

UL 1581: Defines test methods for cables and wires, including performance tests such as fire resistance, heat resistance, and oil resistance to ensure reliability under various environmental conditions.

Shielding form:


Copper wire braided shielding: The shielding layer is braided with copper wire, which has good flexibility and tensile resistance, and is suitable for occasions that require frequent bending or movement.

Aluminum foil wrapping shielding: The cable is wrapped with aluminum foil to provide excellent electromagnetic shielding effect, which is suitable for high-frequency signal transmission and applications with high requirements for anti-interference.

Composite shielding (copper wire braiding + aluminum foil): Combining copper wire braiding and aluminum foil shielding to provide double shielding protection, suitable for environments with particularly strong electromagnetic interference to ensure signal integrity.

1. Conductor: imported special multi-strand fine tinned/silvered copper wire

2. Insulation: imported environmentally friendly flame-retardant mixed material

3. Core wire: core wire twisted into cable, two cores twisted, twisted density less than 1 cm

4. Shielding: imported aluminum foil winding shielding + imported tinned/silvered copper mesh braided shielding, braided shielding density greater than 90%

5. Grounding guide wire: imported multi-strand fine tinned/silvered copper wire

6. Outer sheath: imported flame-retardant environmentally friendly mixed material

7. Outer sheath color: green, black, gray, yellow, etc.

8. Minimum bending radius: about 6x D (cable outer diameter)

9.Operating temperature: -40°C ~ +80°C

10. Number of cores: 2~24; Conductor cross section: 0.2~2.5mm2

Shielding effect:

Shielding electromagnetic interference: The current passing through the power cable is relatively large, and a magnetic field will be generated around the current. In order not to affect the normal operation of other components, the shielding layer can wrap the signal or power wire inside, which can prevent electromagnetic noise interference in two ways.

Grounding protection: To prevent the cable core from being damaged and the current from leaking out, the cable with a shielding layer can allow the leaked current to flow into the grounding grid, effectively guide the interference current into the earth, and play a role in safety protection.

The ability to resist external electromagnetic interference and the ability of the system itself to radiate electromagnetic interference outward, effectively filtering out unnecessary electromagnetic waves.

Electrical Interference Problem

Due to the electromagnetic induction interference generated by the power-on current, KVVP cables may be affected by electrical interference after laying. This interference may come from nearby high-voltage and high-current interference sources, or interference between different cores in the same cable. Electrical interference may cause unstable signal transmission and even cause malfunction. To solve this problem, the following measures can be taken:

Ground a spare core in the control cable to reduce the amplitude of the interference voltage.

For circuits where electrical interference will have serious consequences, it is necessary to avoid sharing a control cable, especially weak-current signal control loops and strong-current signal control loops, low-level signals and high-level signal loops, etc.

The use of metal shielding is an important measure to reduce and prevent electrical interference, including total shielding, sub-shielding and double-layer total shielding of the core.

Manufacturing Defects and Quality Problems

KVVP cables may have some defects during the manufacturing process, such as insulation eccentricity, uneven insulation shielding thickness, impurities in the insulation, and cable moisture. These defects may cause the cable to fail during use, affecting the stability and safety of signal transmission. Construction and Installation Issues

During the construction and installation process, KVVP cables may be affected by mechanical damage, insulation damage and other problems.
