COMMON QUESTIONS

SHENXING Cable Service FAQs

Want to learn more? Check out our electrical cable most frequently asked questions.

Why choose aluminum core cable instead of copper core cable?

Economical: The cost of aluminum is lower than that of copper, so the price of aluminum core cable is relatively low.

Light weight: The density of aluminum is lower than that of copper, and the cable is lighter, which is convenient for transportation and installation.

Conductivity: Although the conductivity of aluminum is slightly worse than that of copper, by increasing the cross-sectional area of the conductor, the same conductivity as that of copper core cable can be achieved.

What are the advantages of cross-linked polyethylene insulation?

Good heat resistance: Cross-linked polyethylene has high heat resistance and can withstand higher operating temperatures.

Excellent electrical properties: It has high breakdown voltage and low dielectric loss.

Good chemical resistance: It is not easily corroded by chemicals such as acids and alkalis.

Good mechanical properties: It has good toughness and tensile strength.

What is the role of PVC sheath?

Protect the cable: The PVC sheath can protect the cable from mechanical damage, chemical corrosion and environmental factors.

Waterproof and moisture-proof: The PVC sheath has good waterproof and moisture-proof properties to prevent the cable from moisture.

What is the significance of low smoke and halogen-free?

Safety: Less smoke is produced during combustion, no halogenated hydrogen gas is produced, and harm to personnel is reduced.

Environmental protection: Meet environmental protection requirements and reduce pollution to the environment.

How to choose a suitable aluminum core cable?

Voltage level: Select a suitable cable according to the rated voltage of the load.

Current capacity: Select a suitable conductor cross-sectional area according to the current of the load.

Laying environment: Select a suitable cable model according to the laying environment (such as temperature, humidity, corrosiveness, etc.).

Installation method: Select a suitable cable according to the installation method (such as direct burial, overhead, pipeline).

What are the precautions for the installation of aluminum core cables?

Bending radius: Avoid too small a bending radius to avoid damaging the cable.

Joint treatment: The joint should adopt a suitable joint method and be waterproof and anti-corrosion treated.

Fixing: The cable should be firmly fixed to avoid loosening.

How long is the service life of the aluminum core cable?

The service life of the aluminum core cross-linked polyethylene insulated polyvinyl chloride sheathed power cable is related to factors such as laying environment, load current, and maintenance. Under normal use conditions, its service life can reach more than 20 years.

Which is better, aluminum core cable or copper core cable?

Aluminum core cable and copper core cable each have their own advantages and disadvantages, and the choice depends on the specific application. Generally speaking, aluminum core cable is more advantageous for cost-sensitive and light weight applications; copper core cable is more suitable for applications with extremely high conductivity requirements.
