Breaking the world record: Changji-Guquan ±1100 kV UHV transmission project
China's power technology has once again set a world record! The Changji-Guquan ±1100 kV UHV DC transmission project is the pinnacle of global power transmission. With the "four bests" (the world's highest voltage level, the largest transmission capacity, the longest transmission distance, and the most advanced technology), this transmission line has become a benchmark for the construction of the global energy Internet.
The line is 3,324 kilometers long, starting from Changji, Xinjiang, passing through Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, and Henan, and finally arriving at Guquan, Anhui, spanning six provinces and regions, providing a stable and reliable power supply for 400 million people, and successfully solving the problem of unbalanced distribution of China's energy resources.
Since it was put into use in 2019, the project has effectively alleviated the power consumption pressure in East China with a transmission capacity of 11 million kilowatts during the peak of summer power consumption, truly realizing leapfrogging power transmission and ensuring that tens of millions of families enjoy continuous coolness.
Energy balance and green development: Assisting the "dual carbon" goals
UHV transmission technology not only solves the pain point of uneven resource distribution, but also plays an indispensable role in achieving China's "dual carbon" goals.
The demand for energy in the economically developed eastern coastal areas is growing year by year, while the abundant coal, wind and solar energy resources in the western inland areas are facing a bottleneck in transportation. The Changji-Guquan project uses UHV technology to efficiently deliver clean energy from the inland to the East China region, effectively reducing the damage to the environment caused by coal transportation and use.
Data shows the results:
The project has cumulatively delivered about 250 billion kWh of new energy electricity and saved 75.75 million tons of coal.
Reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 17.14 million tons, providing strong impetus for green development.
By optimizing energy distribution, it not only guarantees the electricity demand in the east, but also brings new opportunities for the inland economy.
Intelligent operation and maintenance: Efficiently ensure power stability
In order to ensure the stable operation of such a large-scale power transmission project, the two major converter stations of Changji and Guquan were built into intelligent "command centers". Advanced operation and maintenance technologies escort the project safety:
High-tech inspection:
Relying on drone inspection, digital twin system and three-dimensional real-scene modeling technology, the operation and maintenance team can monitor the operation status of the line in real time, accurately discover and quickly deal with potential hidden dangers, and greatly improve the operation and maintenance efficiency.
Technological innovation:
Under high temperature and severe weather conditions, the project still operates smoothly. In 2022, the Changji converter station applied a newly developed portable hydraulic repair machine to quickly complete the repair task in the high-altitude environment of the mountainous area. Compared with traditional methods, this innovation greatly shortens the maintenance time and realizes continuous power transmission.
The global influence of UHV technology
The Changji-Guquan Project is not only a milestone in China's power history, but also a new benchmark for the development of global energy technology. With its green development concept and world-leading technological advantages, China's UHV transmission technology has won international recognition and provided a "Chinese solution" for the construction of the global energy Internet.
Green energy, promising future
China's UHV transmission technology, with its excellent performance and sustainable development concept, has not only promoted the energy revolution, but also injected unlimited possibilities into achieving the global "dual carbon" goal. The success of the Changji-Guquan project is a model of China's scientific and technological innovation and a hope for world energy development.
